Fotor Review – An Easy Design Tool and Photo Editor

Admin Design

Having been introduced to Fotor, an online picture editor, I was keen to see what it has to offer compared to Canva for Work, which I currently use on a daily basis.  This was quite an exciting project, as I spend a large part of my working day, creating social media graphics, along with blog and website graphics, therefore, I was keen to know if Fotor offers me that little bit extra as an easy design tool.

Here is an example ‘Twitter Template’ that I used, and with a few changes to the text and my brand colours, which you can save under your ‘my favorites‘, I was loving the result.

They have a large selection of Templates, which gives you enough inspiration if you’re lacking, but if like me you usually start with a blank page and you make the entire design yourself, there is plenty of additional functions to utilitise.

Unlike Canva, Fotor has excellent photo editing tools, which are match to the Lightroom App!

Fotor’s online photo editor lets you edit, crop and resize photos, add photo effects, change background of photo online, add text to photo, add stickers and photo frames and create online HDR photos.

If you are an Instagram user or a big fan of filters, this is a winner because you can add filters to your images too!  Want to add some clip art to those Insta Photos – you can do that also.

Here is a quick example below which I did this in just a few minutes using the Smoothing and Wrinkle remover.

There are many options available under Edit Photo including, Basic, Effect, Beauty, Frames, Sticker and Text.

This is an example using a Frame and Colour Splash.

With several types of photo collage templates to choose from such as funky collage, text collage and shape collage, you simpl upload your photos and drag and drop – it’s as simple as that!

Your work is easily saved and you also have the option of sharing to the following:-

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Google+
  • Pinterest
  • Tumblr
  • Facebook Messenger

You can also share you work by simply copying a link.

I Presently pay for Canva for Work $12.95 USD per month, or pay annually $119.40 USD.

Fotor Pro Online costs $39.99 USD per year, or $8.99 USD a month, which is an amazing price, especially if you can afford to pay annually. Here is the list of what you get with your purchase:-

Interestingly, this easy design tool is comparable with Canva with its design and collage capabilities.  It didn’t take me long to work out the small differences between them both and within a short time I was working as quickly as I would be in Canva for Work.

Canva is hugely popular amongst my Blogger and Virtual Assistant friends. However, many of the images can often lack originality. I see the same Canva templates on Pinterest time and time again which can become quite bland.  Fotor definitely adds the extra Va Va Voom with their template originality.

With a graphic design tendency, I have always been interested in design trends. That includes brand colour, so it is worth while to note you can save your brand colours on both Fotor and Canva, which is immensely helpful.

Canva wins on the amount of templates, stock photos and additional icons and graphics.

However, Fotor comes out top with offering the fabulous addition of the photo editing capabilities that are not discimilar to the Lightroom App.

I was very impressed with Fotor, and have been thrilled to be introduced to this product, which is an all in one Design and Photograph Tool. I look forward to using this again and again over the coming year!

Disclosure: I was given access to Fotor pro for one year for the purpose of this post, all opinions are my own.
